NR 21 - Outdoor Work

21.1 Shelters, even simple ones, shall be provided for outdoor work to protect workers from bad weather.

21.2 Special protective measures shall be taken to shield workers from excessive sunlight, heat, cold, humidity and adverse winds.

21.3 Workers living on-site shall be provided with accommodation meeting proper sanitary standards.

21.4 For work in swampy or waterlogged areas, endemic disease prevention measures shall be implemented in accordance with public health regulations.

21.5 Workplace sanitation shall conform to the nature of working activities.

21.6 If the employer provides housing for employees and their families, such housing shall have qualified sanitary conditions.

21.6.1 Collective shared housing for employees' families is prohibited under any circumstances.

21.7 Accommodation shall be equipped with:

a) reasonable space suitable for the number of residents;

b) sufficient natural ventilation and daylight;

c) whitewashed walls and floors made of impermeable materials.

21.8 Residential buildings shall be built in airy areas free of weeds, at least 50 meters away from hay storage yards, manure yards, cattle sheds, stables, pigsties and all kinds of breeding farms.

21.9 Doors, windows and vents shall be fitted with closing devices for tight closure when needed.

21.10 Water wells shall be properly protected against contamination.

21.11 Roofs shall be made of impermeable, rot-proof and non-combustible materials.

21.12 Each residence shall be equipped with at least one bedroom, one kitchen and one sanitary room.

21.13 Septic pits shall be no less than 15 meters away from water wells and 10 meters away from houses, located in flood-free areas and downstream of wells.

21.14 Toilet areas shall be well ventilated, kept clean and hygienic, and properly protected against breeding of insects, rodents and pests.
