8.1 Objective

8.1.1 This Regulatory Standard (NR) establishes requirements to be met in buildings to guarantee safety and comfort for workers.

 

8.2 Scope of Application

8.2.1 The prevention measures established in this Standard apply to buildings where labor activities are carried out.

 

8.3 Safety and Health Requirements

8.3.1 Workplaces shall have floor-to-ceiling ceiling height in accordance with local building codes or municipal regulations, complying with official technical standards and the safety, comfort and health conditions established in Regulatory Standards.

 

8.3.2 Circulation

8.3.2.1 The floors of workplaces shall not have protrusions or depressions that hinder the circulation of people or the movement of materials.

8.3.2.2 Openings in floors and walls shall be protected to prevent the fall of people or objects.

8.3.2.3 Floors, fixed stairs and ramps shall be designed, constructed and maintained to support the permanent and mobile loads they are intended for, in accordance with official technical standards.

8.3.2.4 Non-slip materials or systems shall be used on floors, fixed stairs, ramps, corridors and passageways of workplaces where there is a risk of slipping.

8.3.2.5 Floors above ground level shall be provided with protection against the fall of people or objects, in accordance with municipal legislation and official technical standards, complying with safety and comfort conditions.

 

8.3.3 Weather Protection

8.3.3.1 The external parts, as well as all elements that separate autonomous units of a building, even if not part of its main structure, must comply with official technical standards regarding fire resistance, thermal insulation, acoustic insulation and conditioning, structural strength, and waterproofing.

8.3.3.2 The floors and walls of workplaces shall be waterproofed and protected against humidity where applicable.

8.3.3.3 The roofs of workplaces shall ensure protection against rain.

8.3.3.4 Workplace buildings shall be designed and constructed according to environmental needs, to prevent excessive sunlight exposure or lack of natural lighting.
